Established in 2007, Vietjet officially launched operations in December 2011. The airline is an official member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) with IOSA certification. Vietjet’s high dispatch reliability is comparable to other airlines around the world. In 2016, the airline operated 84,535 safe flights with a total of 121,213 flight hours. With an on-time performance rate of 83.6%, and a technical reliability of 99.56%, Vietjet is recognised as one of the best performing airlines operating an A320/A321 fleet in the region.

After five years of operations, the airline has flown over 35 million passengers, and been awarded 32 domestic and nine international accolades. Most recently, the airline was also named as one of the Top 500 Brands in Asia 2016, “The Best Asian Low Cost Carrier 2015” at the TTG Travel Awards 2015, and “The Most Favourite Airline in Vietnam”. Vietjet has also been named as “Vietnam’s Best Place to Work” and was nominated for “Best Employer Brand Development” in consecutive years.

In addition to accolades from the domestic and international markets, Vietjet has been rewarded by the Prime Minister of Vietnam for its excellent contribution to the development of Vietnam’s aviation industry.

Currently, the airline boasts a fleet of 45 aircraft, including A320s and A321s, and operates over 300 flights per day. It currently operates 63 routes in Vietnam and across the region to international destinations such as Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Cambodia, China and Myanmar.

Looking ahead, the airline plans to expand its network across the Asia Pacific region. It has signed agreements with the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers to purchase more brand-new and modern aircraft. The airline has placed orders for 119 Airbus A320/321 family aircraft and 100 Boeing 737 MAX. Vietjet is also building Vietjet’s Centre of Aviation Technology (under “Vietjet’s Aviation Academy” project) that aspires to become an internationally recognized aviation research and training facility to actively train and provide high quality human resource for its operations.
