Competition law has never been so important in the business operations of companies as it is now.
Recent years have seen an increased level of enforcement activities by the competition regulators around the world and particularly in Asia, where there is a lot more action in this space. Regulators around the region are taking more aggressive enforcement actions and heavy fines have been imposed for antitrust violations. This trend will continue to strengthen in the coming years.
Vietnam is not standing on the sidelines of this global and regional trend. 2015 marks the 10th anniversary of the implementation of Vietnam’s competition law. The Vietnam Competition Authority is much more active in its enforcement activities and companies are becoming more sophisticated in using the law to protect their rights.
Against this background, it has become a challenge for companies to navigate through various competition law jurisdictions in the region and manage their competition compliance in the region and in Vietnam.
