Voting

The Australian Federal Election will be held on Saturday 7 September 2013. Voters should check their enrolment status and eligibility to vote
via the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) website www.aec.gov.au. Electoral Rolls closed on Monday, 12 August 2013. If you are currently enrolled, you can vote in person at the Australian Consualte-General in Ho Chi Minh City.

Early (in-person) voting will be offered from Monday 26 August 2013. You should check below when we are open for voting as opening hours and arrangements do differ. For a full list of overseas voting locations around the world please visit the Australian Electoral Commission’s (AEC) website www.aec.gov.au.Please note our office will not be open for voting on Election day, Saturday 7 September. Consulate staff cannot answer queries relating to postal vote applications, enrolment status, eligibility, or entitlement to vote. Up to date information on elections and eligibility, and copies of
relevant forms (eg Application for a Postal Vote, Application to be
Registered as an Overseas Elector) are available from individual
electoral commission websites. We are unable to advise you or comment on
the eligibility of individual voters. Eligibility is a matter for the
relevant electoral commission.

Hanoi

The Prime Minister has announced that the Federal Election will be
held on Saturday 7 September 2013. Voters should check their enrolment
status and eligibility to vote via the Australian Electoral Commission(AEC) website . Electoral Rolls closed on Monday, 12 August 2013.

In-person voting will be facilitated at the Australian Embassy in
Hanoi at 8 Dao Tan Street, Ba Dinh District from Monday 26 August to
Friday 6 September commencing at 9:00 each morning and ending at 4:30
each afternoon. Voting services will not be available on Monday 2
September or on Saturday 7 September.

The AEC has implemented an online postal vote application available at http://www.aec.gov.au/election/pva/
which is their preferred method of receiving postal vote applications
including for those of us who will be overseas at the time of the
election. Postal ballot material will be processed in Australia and sent
to your overseas mailing address. Postal vote applications can be
submitted up until Thursday, 5 September 2013.
