Today the Australian Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City opens applications for the Australian Government’s Direct Aid Program (DAP) grant round 2016-17, for projects in central and southern Vietnam. Small grants of up to AU$20,000 (US$15,000) are available to NGOs, community groups and other not-for-profit entities to undertake small-scale development projects focussing on the economic empowerment of disadvantaged communities and groups. The deadline for applications is Wednesday 5 October 2016.

In the 2016-17 grant round, total DAP grants awarded by the Australian Consulate-General is expected to be approximately AU$250,000. DAP funding is competitive, in 2015-16 the Australian Consulate-General funded 18 projects of the nearly160 applications received.

Australian Consul-General Ms. Karen Lanyon shared that “the Australian Government is very pleased to assist disadvantaged groups and communities through the DAP grants. This year we will focus on the areas of women’s economic empowerment and gender equality, environmental protection and healthcare.
