HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam (July 06, 2017) – Get up close with the creative process of two Michelin-star Chef Mitsuru Konishi, as he prepares his contemporary French – Japanese cuisine at the Caravelle Saigon in mid-July.

The Japanese chef — who earned two stars for Hong Kong’s Wagyu Takumi in the Michelin Guide – will showcase his cooking at Reflections Restaurant on July 13 and 14, and at Café de l’Opera and Tapas Kitchen from July 17 to 19, where he’ll present small bites such as tuna tartar with tosazu jelly and marinated mini-tomato with red onion. Caravelle Saigon is also giving culinary enthusiasts a rare opportunity to interact with the renowned chef, by purchasing one of just four seats at the Tapas Kitchen counter.

Konishi’s journey through cooking brought him from his native Tokyo to France, where he spent seven years honing his skills in Michelin-starred restaurants such as Michel Rostang and Taillevent. In 2002, he returned to Japan, this time to work at the legendary L’ATELIER de Joel Robuchon.

When Konishi took the helm as executive chef of Wagyu Takumi in 2013, it was only a year before the restaurant was recognised with two stars in the Hong Kong and Macau Michelin Guide – a distinction it maintained in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Today, Konishi is sharing his expertise with fellow food-lovers while working on his own culinary project.

This July, Konishi will give Saigon a taste of his talent when he cooks a gourmet five-course menu at Reflections Restaurant, using ingredients such as Hitachi A5 Wagyu beef. On July 17, 18 and 19, Konishi will reappear at Tapas Kitchen — from 11:30am to 3pm, and from 6pm to 10:30pm — to prepare delicious small plates for guests from a la carte and set menus.

For a personal encounter with the chef, diners can reserve a seat at the Tapas Kitchen counter, where they can watch and interact with the craftsman as he cooks. Priced at VND 3,110,000++, the experience comes with a glass of Moët Champagne and Konishi’s own eight-course Prestige tasting menu. Bookings are recommended to avoid disappointment.
