Born in Italy, Maurizio Susan is first and foremost a self-confessed food nerd. He boasts an impressive culinary career spanning more than 25 years, honing his skills in Italy and France, before working his way up the culinary ladder.

Kick-starting his career at culinary institutions in Italy and Austria, Maurizio then moved to Germany where he worked in his first Michelin star restaurant in Hamburg. Following this, he moved to London and worked for the famous Savoy Hotel where he won first culinary award. Three years later, Maurizio found himself in Barcelona, Spain working at the prestigious Hotel Juan Carlos I. It was here that he started to gain international recognition for his cooking style and creativity.

He then achieved one of his highest career goals working on luxury cruise liners. It was a life changing moment for Maurizio when he was personally selected by internationally acclaimed Chef Joel Robuchon to work at his award-winning restaurant “L’Atelier” in Hong Kong.

In 2010, he started a new journey in Asia, commencing with roles in the Maldives followed by Thailand and Cambodia.

Coming to Vietnam, as the newly appointed Culinary Director of Eastin Grand Hotel Saigon, Maurizio will focus on the food and service in the hotel, creating high quality, delicious and traditional fare inspired by local markets and produce while showcasing international, contemporary and seasonal dishes that reflect his mind, passion and global inspiration.

“I could not be more excited to lead the food and beverage program at one of Saigon’s most iconic hotels,” Maurizio said. “My passion for impeccable service and flavorful food makes for a great partnership with this historic destination.”
