Weekly Update from the Executive Director, Michael Roberts [26 July 2018]
Dear Members and Friends,
The first AusCham Education Symposium will be held in HCMC on 30th August 2018 at The Reverie Saigon, and I am pleased to announce that the Victorian Government, and Study Melbourne will be headline sponsors. Victorian education institutions have significant representation in Vietnam, with RMIT being the largest with campuses in HCMC, Hanoi and most recently Da Nang. RMIT is also of course a Titanium sponsor of the Chamber and their support is invaluable. The Chamber is also supported by La Trobe University, another Victorian based Institution as a Bronze sponsor. Further sponsorship support for this Symposium has come from the Australian International School (AIS) in HCMC, who are also Silver sponsors of AusCham. In fact education and training is a significant portion of our membership, which is a key motivating factor behind the Education Symposium. The program is reaching its final stages and topics across the three sectors of Schools, VET and Higher Education will be discussed, with Australian and Vietnamese education experts providing keynote addresses on a broad variety of topics based on current and future collaboration and opportunities in the sector. I must thank the representatives from Queensland, Northern Territory, Western Australia and New South Wales who assisted with the program development, and a very big thank you to Celia Yeo, from the Victorian Government for her assistance and coordination.
The Education Symposium will become an annual event, and will be the first in a series of symposia that the Chamber will be holding across a number of industry sectors over the next year. Events such as these require significant resources, and the organisation is fortunate to have hard working and dedicated staff, and an equally hard working and dedicated board. Financially however we need to rely on the support and good will of people and organisations who understand and appreciate our cause, and for that we are extremely grateful. Invitations to the Education Symposium will be sent shortly, so if you have an interest either directly or indirectly in the education sector I urge you to mark the 30th August in your diary now.
