Weekly Update from the Executive Director, Michael Roberts [14 June 2018]
Dear Members and Friends,
Many of you may not be aware of the Chamber’s involvement in the Vietnam Business Forum (VBF). The VBF serves as a regular and high-level channel of communication between the business community and the Vietnamese Government, and is widely recognised as an important and reliable partner in shaping reforms and delivering a better business environment in Vietnam. The Forum is a not for profit, non-political channel for nurturing public private dialogue to develop a favorable business environment that attracts domestic and foreign private sector investment and stimulates sustainable economic development in Vietnam.
AusCham is currently a second tier member, but has significant representation on the VBF’s working groups, with AusCham directors Brian O’Reilly, Giles Cooper and David Whitehead heavily involved. Brian is Chair of the Education and Training Working Group, David chairs the Agribusiness Working Group, while Giles co-chairs the Governance and Transparency Working Group and is a member of the VBF Consortium’s Management Board. Over the coming weeks we will update you on activities that are occurring with the VBF and how it is assisting Australian businesses in Vietnam.
