The Mavin Group has announced its initial exports of frozen pork to Myanmar and signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Sojitz on June 25 in Hanoi.

Mr. David John Whitehead, Chairman of the Mavin Group, said it exported 26 tons of fresh pork to the Shwe Yamone Manufacturing Co., based in Myanmar, in late May.

Its partner assessed the quality and hygiene of the products highly. Established in 2001, Shwe Yamone Manufacturing is a seafood processor and exporter.

“We are preparing procedures for exporting the next containers,” Mr. Whitehead said. “Each month we will export at least a 40-feet container of frozen pork to Myanmar. We are also negotiating with partners to export other processed products such as ham, sausage, and bacon to the country.”

Mavin is the first company in Vietnam to officially export frozen pork to other countries and is sending other agricultural products to global markets, according to Mr. Vu Van Tam, Deputy Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Last year, the Dong Nai province-based Koyu & Unitek exported its first chicken meat shipment to Japan. The group continued to expand three production lines for exports to the country.

Partnering with Mavin to export frozen pork around the world is Sojitz Vietnam, a member of the Japan-based Sojitz Corporation, which has developed wide-ranging general trading operations in a multitude of countries and regions.

Under the agreement, Mavin and Sojitz Vietnam are to export agricultural products in the near future.

Mavin plans to export duck meat to Myanmar late this year or early next year.
