Allens is a leading international law firm with a long and proud heritage of shaping the future for our clients, our people and the communities in which we work.
From playing a pioneering role in the development of legislation and regulatory frameworks in the Asia region for almost 200 years, to acting on numerous ‘firsts’ across a range of industry and community issues, it is in our DNA to make a difference and help shape what our world looks like.
Over this time, we’ve grown in scale and reach, today offering clients a global network of 40 offices in 28 locations through our global alliance with Linklaters.
We are privileged to hold some of the world’s longest ongoing client relationships, stretching back more than 170 years, and we’re committed to bringing our talent, expertise and insights to continue solving their toughest problems and creating ways forward to help them thrive. New and exciting market entrants sit alongside these established companies in our client base, drawn to working with us through the innovative re-packaging of our services for the growing and fast paced start-up market.
The firm’s Vietnam practice is one of the largest and most successful among foreign law firms in the country. Our Hanoi office was the first licensed office of any foreign law firm in Hanoi (opening in 1993), with our Ho Chi Minh City office subsequently opening in 1997.
In Ho Chi Minh City, our Partners are Robert Fish and Linh Bui. Robert has worked extensively on cross-border financing, foreign investment and M&A deals into Vietnam for the past 13 years. Linh focuses on cross-border M&A transactions for foreign investors, including private equity investors, and has particular expertise in competition/antitrust law.
In Hanoi, Bill Magennis – who founded the Hanoi office – manages our Vietnam practice and is joined by Partners Chung Le and Melissa Keane. The Hanoi practice specialises in all aspects of large-scale energy and infrastructure projects – including project development, financing, acquisition and construction. Key recent work includes advising on all aspects of Vietnam’s largest foreign invested project – the $9 billion Nghi Son Oil Refinery.
Allens provides advice and assistance across the full suite of legal practice areas in Vietnam, including major mergers and acquisitions, the development of large-scale energy, resources and infrastructure projects, and complex cross-border banking and capital markets transactions.
With our team of Vietnamese and foreign lawyers, and the lawyers based across our alliance network, we have the experience, skills and resources to provide our clients with the most effective and efficient legal solutions when doing business in Vietnam.
