Weekly Update from the Executive Director, Michael Roberts [11 October 2018]

Dear Members and Friends,

Well the AusCham Charity Golf Scramble is done and dusted for another year, and what a tremendous event it was. With much enthusiasm the teams teed off in HCMC, Hanoi and Da Nang in what has become a major fundraising activity for charity in the AusCham Calendar. This year our favourite AFL team the Vietnam Swans brought along Aus comedian Merrick Watts to the HCMC event, who provided a short but lively burst at the end of the day over dinner at the VGCC. The Swannies also provided some entertainment on hole 16 with a brief introduction on how to kick a footy through the goals, something Collingwood could have done more of the following day. In Hanoi the our own Ms Sa our northern manager took control of the day, and transformed herself from novice to expert on all things golf in a very short period. Fantastic job. And in Da Nang our AusCham representative Luke Benbow from Centara Resort rallied the biggest field we’ve seen in golfer’s paradise for our charity scramble, and from the photos he provided it looked not only like a day in paradise but a fabulous event as well. Our thanks to Craig Brogan from Brogolf for his organisation, wisdom and assistance on the day, and to the AusCham team of Nhien, Phuong and Hoan for making it a great event. Our sponsors who we will be contacting directly to provide our sincere thanks make it possible to stage the event, but in particular we’d like to thank Mr Nhut and Bluescope who very generously provided each golfer with a high quality shirt. To all the players thank you, we hope to see you next year, and with your help and generosity we raised over 30 million vnd which will be passed on to Loreto Vietnam in the very near future.

Sundowners in Da Nang tonight at Furama Villas, see you there.

Kind regards

Michael Roberts
