PwC and SSAFE have released a free tool to help companies assess their vulnerabilities to food fraud, which is estimated to cost the food industry US$ 30 to 40 billion every year.

The tool, available for online use at and for download from is free for food companies to use and for sharing between people, departments and geographies within an organisation. The results can act as a basis for developing mitigation and control strategies to reduce risks to fraudulent attacks.

It can be applied anywhere across the food supply chain to assess any ingredient, product or facility for vulnerabilities to fraud; irrespective of the type of food company, its size or geographic location.
