Weekly Update from the Executive Director, Michael Roberts [6 September 2018]

Dear Members and Friends,

On Thursday 30th August, AusCham held its inaugural Education Symposium How Australian Education Prepares Students for the 21st Century at The Reverie Saigon. The program featured an interesting range of speakers from Schools, to Vocational Education and Training, through to Higher Education. Several speakers travelled from Australia and other destinations in South East Asia, all of whom are recognised as leading experts in their respective fields. A number of local highly experienced educators, both Australian and Vietnamese also participated as speakers or panelists. Not surprisingly perhaps given the title of the Symposium most of the Vietnamese speakers and panelists were Australian alumni. The keynote speaker, Dr. Thao Tran delivered an inspiring presentation entitled A Student’s Perspective, What an Australian Education did for me, that reinforced very successfully to all of the delegates the quality and sound investment of an Australian education.

Our inaugural Education Symposium was deemed a success by all who attended, and feedback from our survey has been very positive with over 80% of this year’s participants stating that they are very likely or extremely likely to return for the Symposium in 2019.  A vote of confidence for this year’s event and Australian education.

See you at Sundowners!
