On behalf of the Consortium’s Management Board of the Vietnam Business Forum (VBF), we would like to present you warmest greetings and best wishes for the upcoming New Year.

The VBF, as you may be aware, is among the most successful public-private dialogues in Vietnam. The highlighted strength and effectiveness of the VBF stem from a strong, direct partnership with the Vietnam Consultative Group Meeting (changed to Vietnam Development Partnership Forum since 2012). Issues raised by the VBF (through activities of its Working Groups) are immediately brought to the attention of the Donor Partners who usually meet at the same time with the VBF meetings. Such issues, thus, usually get special attention, careful consideration and prompt solutions from the Government.

Finding that agriculture, forestry and fishery (“agriculture” in brief) have been being one of keysectors of Vietnam’s economy, yet policies, laws and regulations attached to agriculture have not been adequate, thus brought in considerable obstacles to the development of this sector, VBF has launched the initiative of establishing a new Working Group on Agriculture under the Forum framework. With the VBF’  successful experience and strength, the Agriculture Working Group will surely serve as effective channel through which agricultural raising problems will be promptly reviewed, and relevant proposals/initiatives from concerned businesses and associations will be thoroughly dealt with by the Government.

The effectiveness of the new Agriculture Working Group in the VBF will largely depend on the support and enthusiastic participation of associations representing businesses in specific agricultural sector such as yours.

Thus, as kicking-off for the Initiative on the VBF Agriculture Working Group, we look forward to receiving your support and suggestion on the best effective working activities for the VBF Agriculture Working Group as well as prime topics which the Group need to firstly focus on (by sending us filled-in Proposal Paper attached hereto).

Thank you sincerely for your kind cooperation and we look forward to your positive feedback and support forthis Initiative, toward aprofitable and sustainable development of Vietnamese agriculture.
