MIDTERM VIETNAM BUSINESS FORUM 2013

Hanoi, June 3, 2013

NEW PHASE OF ECONOMIC REFORM

From Agenda to Action

The
Vietnam Business Forum (VBF) met on June 3, 2013 in Hanoi and the
presence of Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Vu Van Ninh again
demonstrated the Government’s strong commitment to embrace the dialogue
initiative with the business community. Together they are committed to a
more favorable investment environment in Vietnam through promoting
immediate ACTIONs to accelerate the economic reform agenda.

The
Midterm VBF 2013’s broad-spectrum appeal and importance was evidenced by
the participation of nearly 500 representatives from governmental
agencies, donor community, local and foreign business community and
media. In particular, more than 10 vice ministers and high-ranking
officials from Government ministries attended and addressed pressing
issues in various sectors raised by heads of VBF Working Groups. The
Forum received significant media exposure via national television (VTV,
InfoTV, VOV, HanoiTV, VTC, HTV, among others)(1) and newspapers (2).

During
the Forum, the business community received positive feedback from
Government representatives on a number of pressing issues, such as the
confirmation to maintain visa exemption for citizens of the seven
countries (including Japan, Korea and Russia) visiting Vietnam for
periods of up to 15 days; and the establishment of a national AMC to
address the NPL problem, just to name a few.
