Dear Members and Friends,
At this time tomorrow, 3.30pm on 18 August, the Australian Consulate General will conduct a Vietnam Veterans’ Day Service at the Long Tan Cross.
Tomorrow, fewer attendees than usual are expected to join the Service. Many in Australia have already expressed their interest in attending next year’s commemoration of Vietnam Veterans’ Day on 18 August as it will mark the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan.
AusCham will lay a wreath on behalf of members at the conclusion of tomorrow’s Service.
People wishing to attend the Service are reminded that, in recognition of local sensitivities, visitors should conduct themselves with appropriate decorum. Continued approval for ceremonies of this nature by local authorities is on the condition that no medals or uniforms are worn.
It is recommended visitors bring their own umbrella in case of rain.
For further details, please visit the Australian Consulate’s website page, Veterans Day Service 2015 – 18 August.
Note: Buses to the Service tomorrow are available from Vung Tau.
