AusCham is delighted to welcome University of Sydney as a new Corporate member in 2018/19.
At the University of Sydney, we aspire to be the leading, research-intensive university in Australia with outstanding researchers, networks and partnerships that improve the lives of our local and global communities. We are a comprehensive university with 9 faculties, 3 University schools, 10 institution-wide multidisciplinary initiatives and more than 7,600 staff. We are ranked in the top 1% of universities globally and for more than 160 years we have been producing thought leaders and innovators to discover, create and lead across many fields and areas. Our core strengths lie in the excellence and breadth of our research and teaching, the quality of our staff, our global outlook, and our extensive domestic and international networks and partnerships.
The University is home to the Sydney Southeast Asia Centre (SSEAC), the largest concentration of regional expertise outside Southeast Asia and with a deep understanding of the specific needs and opportunities the people and their communities are facing. The University has international agreements and high impact research and teaching collaborations with many leading institutions in the region, working on critical real-world Southeast Asia issues, such as economic and social reform, infectious diseases and the environment. Recognising the complexity of the problems we confront we pursue a distinctive interdisciplinary and collaborative approach, bringing people together from across the University with communities, industry, governments and NGOs.
