AusCham Attends Conference on the Announcement of the Hanoi Capital Master Plan with a 100-Year Vision and 2026 Investment Promotion
Hanoi, 29 June 2026 — Representing AusCham Vietnam, Mr. Richard Nguyen, Board Member, attended the Conference on the Announcement of the Hanoi Capital Master Plan with a 100-Year Vision and 2026 Investment Promotion, a landmark event underscoring Hanoi’s ambitious long-term vision to become a globally competitive hub for innovation, investment, and liveability.

The conference brought together senior government officials, policymakers, domestic and international investors, business associations, and industry leaders to discuss Hanoi’s strategic development roadmap and future investment priorities. AusCham’s participation reflects its continued commitment to supporting dialogue on policy, trade, investment, and sustainable economic development in Vietnam.
At the conference, Hanoi officially unveiled its new capital master plan, setting out a transformative blueprint for the city’s development over the next century. The plan positions Hanoi as a green, smart, and globally connected capital city, with a strong emphasis on balancing economic growth, environmental sustainability, and cultural preservation.
One of the most significant shifts outlined in the master plan is Hanoi’s transition from a growth model driven by scale and expansion toward one focused on quality, productivity, innovation, and competitiveness. City leaders emphasised that Hanoi’s future growth will increasingly be powered by science, technology, and high-value industries rather than traditional expansion alone.
A key highlight is the adoption of a multi-layered, multi-polar, and multi-centre urban development model, designed to reduce pressure on the historic inner city while unlocking new growth corridors across the wider capital region. The Red River is envisioned as a central ecological and cultural axis, helping shape Hanoi’s future urban identity.
Infrastructure development remains a major priority. The city plans to accelerate investment in strategic transport infrastructure, transit-oriented development (TOD), smart logistics, and inter-regional connectivity, creating stronger foundations for long-term economic growth and urban resilience.
The conference also underscored Hanoi’s ambition to build a robust innovation ecosystem, with Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park positioned as a core innovation hub. Priority sectors for investment include semiconductors, artificial intelligence, data centres, digital technology, clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and circular economy solutions—all expected to serve as new engines of growth for the capital.
Another notable theme was administrative reform and governance innovation. Hanoi’s leadership reaffirmed its commitment to building a more transparent, efficient, and business-friendly regulatory environment aimed at reducing time, costs, and risks for investors. This people- and business-centred approach seeks to strengthen policy predictability and enhance investor confidence in the city’s long-term development agenda.
The 2026 investment promotion agenda further highlighted Hanoi’s intention to attract high-quality domestic and foreign investment into strategic sectors such as infrastructure, renewable energy, education, healthcare, finance, logistics, and advanced technology. This presents significant opportunities for Australian businesses, particularly in sectors where Australia offers strong expertise, including urban planning, sustainable infrastructure, professional services, digital transformation, and clean technology.
For the Australian business community, Hanoi’s 100-year vision represents not only an urban transformation strategy but also a clear signal of Vietnam’s continued commitment to economic reform, international integration, and long-term sustainable growth.
As a bridge between the Australian and Vietnamese business communities, AusCham welcomes Hanoi’s bold vision and looks forward to fostering greater collaboration, investment, and knowledge exchange in support of the capital’s next chapter of development.
