AusCham Participates in Meet Up 2025 Lao Cai Event
Lao Cai, March 14, 2025 - Ms. Cynthia Mann, AusCham Director and CEO of Future Traditions, represented AusCham Vietnam at the Meet Up 2025 Lao Cai event, held on March 14, 2025. This pivotal gathering highlighted Lao Cai's emergence as a regional hub for trade and investment connectivity between Vietnam, ASEAN, and Southwest China.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bùi Thanh Sơn outlined three key directions for future cooperation:
Tapping Cooperation Potential: Leverage the strong relationships between ASEAN-China and Vietnam-China to enhance economic, trade, investment, and tourism collaboration. Maximize Lao Cai's advantages by prioritizing emerging drivers such as science and technology, green economy, and digital transformation.
Focusing on Key Areas of Cooperation: Strengthen economic and trade ties between Lao Cai and Yunnan, improve transportation infrastructure (such as the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong railway, bridges over the Red River, and Lao Cai-Hekou North rail connections), and expand tourism and cultural exchanges.
Enhancing Border Management: Effectively implement legal border documents, improve coordination mechanisms, combat crime, and build a peaceful and cooperative border region.
Deputy Prime Minister Bùi Thanh Sơn emphasized:
"The spirit is to cooperate, win together, and develop together—maximizing potential for meaningful, measurable cooperation. Ministries, agencies, and Lao Cai Province, along with other localities in Vietnam, must take these suggestions seriously, promptly address them, and follow up with specific plans and programs for implementation after the event."
