Blockchain In The Age Of COVID-19

CPA Australia, RMIT Centre of Digital Excellence (CoDE) and AusCham Vietnam are delighted to co-host a very interesting webinar workshop for our members and stakeholders across the region about blockchain implications in the age of COVID-19. The webinar will first discuss how the economic and technological change consequences of COVID-19 accelerate the general case for blockchain as new economic infrastructure. It will then discuss a series of particular applications and use cases such as: Identity technology, medical records and quarantine passports as bio-medical economic infrastructure to enable economic reopening Central Bank Digital Currencies for fast targeted transfer payments and tax rebates for citizens and businesses Quantity assurance in supply chains, especially of medical equipment, PPE, or drug supplies After the webinar, participants would be able to take away key knowledge about: The different ways that COVID-19 will drive economic transformation of industries and trade, and digital adoption The strategic business and government policy implications and opportunities How these economic forces translate into new demand for decentralised digital technologies, including blockchain technologies, and new business models How blockchain can be used for medical tracking and assurance How governments can use blockchain for direct payments and economic management in a time of crisis How blockchain based supply chains can provide transparency and security to essential supplies The webinar will be delivered in English. PROF JASON POTTSProfessor of Economics and Director of the Blockchain Innovation Hub at RMIT University Jason Potts is Professor of Economics at RMIT University in Australia, specialising in economics of innovation and new technologies. He is Director of the Blockchain Innovation Hub, the first social science research institute on Blockchain in the world. Professor Potts and his team have pioneered the new field of institutional cryptoeconomics to help us better understand the economic impact of blockchain technology. Prof Potts himself is the top world expert in this area. His latest books are (1) UNFREEZE: How to to create a high growth economy after the pandemic, (2) Understanding the Blockchain Economy: An Introduction to Institutional Cryptoeconomics and (3) Innovation Commons: The Origin of Economic Growth.
