The Kianh Foundation
About
The Kianh Foundation is a registered UK/Vietnam NGO that works with children with disability in central Vietnam. It has strong ties to Australia with its day centre having been designed by Architects Without Borders, Australia; the construction of the centre being funded by RMIT; its staff being trained by AVI (soon to be SCOPE) professional volunteers; a partnership with Newcastle University, Australia; a partnership with GDG Australia; and many of its children being sponsored by Australian citizens.
The Kianh Foundation provides education, physical therapy, speech therapy and all-round development for children aged from 1 – 18 with a wide range of disabilities and who have nowhere else to go. One of its aims is to provide enough support to families to be able to keep their children at home and not given up to orphanages; we have several successful cases in this regard. Its staff are trained to deliver international-standard services, and its success in developing even the most challenging of children is high. The Kianh Foundation special education programme is an excellent model for not only Vietnam, but for other countries where qualified staff are not an option. With the right financial support, we wish to extend our programmes to be able to help more children and their families and also to train others in the field to be able to deliver our programme, which has proven results.
