Alina Eye Hospital Social Enterprise

About

Alina Vision (AV) provides high quality eye care at affordable prices, and our flagship hospital – Alina Eye Hospital – is located in Eco Park, outside of Hanoi. AV is a social enterprise majority owned by Australian charity The Fred Hollows Foundation. We offer eye checks, glasses, and surgeries for cataract and other conditions.

Alina Vision’s social enterprise model utilises a cross-subsidy model, where fee-paying patients help cover the costs of subsidized services for lower-income patients. All patients receive the same high-quality care but get to choose a treatment package based on their ability to pay.

In addition to our Hospital, we also operate three smaller Vision Centres – located in Hanoi, Haiphong and Quang Ninh – which screen patients and refer surgical and more complex cases to our main hospital as needed. The AV team also goes into the community to undertake outreach work, as well as offer workplace screening camps to factory workers.

In Vietnam, more than 400,000 are blind, and 1.3 million people are visually impaired due to cataract, and Alina Vision is working to clear this backlog, as well as train the surgeons, optometrists and nurses needed in the market. With global expansion aspirations, Alina Vision is looking for partners – individuals, corporates, government and community-based organisations – who can help us realise our vision – a world in which no person in needlessly blind or vision impaired.
