The University of Queensland
About
For more than a century, The University of Queensland (UQ) has educated and worked with outstanding people to deliver knowledge leadership for a better world. Across our 3 campuses, UQ’s 7,410 staff and 55,000+ students deliver and experience unparalleled teaching, learning and research excellence that creates positive change globally.
UQ has been actively engaged in the higher education sector in Vietnam since the mid-1990s. UQ and Vietnam share a strong vision for economic and community development, with research collaborations across agriculture and food science, environmental science, digital transformation, tourism, and public health. The University also has more than 1,350 graduates residing in Vietnam, who join the University’s global community of more than 330,000 alumni.
UQ has a long-standing collaborative relationship with the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) in the provision of teacher development training, with linkages in universities and research institutes across the country. The University also provides international development activities across a range of fields, and has delivered professional development training to many government officials.
UQ is involved in a variety of research projects and academic collaborations with the Vietnamese Government and education institutions across a range of sectors in-line with national priority areas. These include the $8.5 million E-Dengue project, funded by the Wellcome Trust, to help local communities and health centres mitigate outbreaks of mosquito-borne disease in the Mekong Delta Region. The three-phase project will be conducted across 13 Vietnamese provinces that are highly vulnerable to climate change between 2023-2027.
