Asia Society-Victoria Distinguished Fellow from Vietnam visits Melbourne, Australia

Last September, Ms. Dang Thi Thanh Van (Founder & CEO Savvycom) had been warmly hosted during her 3-day tour in Melbourne, Australia, upon the invitation of Asia Society Australia (ASA) -  the prestigious organization behind initiatives to boost deep and sustainable collaborations between Australia and Asian countries. 

As an Australian alumnus with outstanding achievements and an ASA Distinguished Fellow, Ms. Van had a series of visits within the framework of this program. Along with Ms. Phan Thi Tuyet Mai (Vice President HAWEE & Founder/CEO of TMT Company), she took a tour of the RMIT Activator with Future Founders, joined the 1st Women in Trade event at the new Asia Trade and Innovation Hub at RMIT University whose panel discussion explored perspectives from Victoria and Vietnam.

The ladies had also been welcomed in various other meetings with Victorian Government, Global Victoria Women and the tech startup community in Victoria sharing interest in the Vietnamese market. As speakers with their own success stories doing business in Vietnam and cross-borders, Van and Mai shared valuable insights and discussed the importance of networks in ensuring women get to the top, the value of mentoring and championing, and building board of advisors.

Ms. Dang Thi Thanh Van is a Tech Entrepreneur, Angel Investor, Mentor and Speaker. As a University of Sydney computer science graduate, Van is praised amongst the “most prominent Australian female alumni” by Australia Embassy in Vietnam and gains her international fame through a series of duties and accolades. She founded Savvycom in 2009 and now serves as the CEO of this leading software service company, which is growing both in scale and specialty, standing amongst the Top 30 Global App Developers by Clutch.

In responding to her appointment as Asia Society-Victoria Distinguished Fellow in 2021, Van said: “I am delighted to accept the 2021 Asia Society-Victoria Distinguished Fellowship, a position that will bring together my work and personal ties to Victoria, Australia and Viet Nam. I look forward to strengthening the growing relationship by facilitating strong business connections in tech, innovation, and entrepreneurship, through outreach and people-to-people engagement.”
