AusCham Vietnam attends Hai Phong Investment Promotion Conference
Hai Phong, 15 July 2025 - Representatives of the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (AusCham) were honoured to attend the Hai Phong Investment Promotion Conference, held in conjunction with the 3rd APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC III) Meeting.

The conference was co-organised by Hai Phong City and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), aiming to position Hai Phong as a key driver of economic growth, green transformation, and regional connectivity. Themed “Hai Phong – Strategic Destination of the New Era”, the high-level event gathered over 1,200 participants, including senior government officials, global business leaders, foreign business associations and representatives from 21 APEC economies.

In his keynote address, President Luong Cuong underlined the event’s significance as a reflection of Vietnam’s proactive approach to global economic integration.
“This conference sends a clear message about Vietnam’s development aspirations, its commitment to an open business environment, and Hai Phong’s strategic role within Vietnam’s industrial and logistics networks”.
Hai Phong’s Bold Development Commitments
Opening the event, Hai Phong Party Secretary Mr. Le Tien Chau outlined the city’s long-term vision, founded on innovation, science and technology, digital transformation, and sustainable development. He highlighted four strategic breakthroughs, including:
- Accelerating the Southern Coastal Economic Zone,
- Establishing a new generation Free Trade Zone,
- Building modern, transparent governance structures, and
- Developing and attracting high-quality human resources.
Vietnam’s Economic Strength Underpins Hai Phong’s Rise
President Luong Cuong spotlighted Vietnam’s impressive trade performance, with total import-export turnover exceeding USD 786 billion in 2024, securing its place among the world’s top 20 trading nations. He described Hai Phong as Vietnam’s largest export gateway in the North and a vital link in global supply chains.

“With its dynamic ecosystem of international seaports, modern industrial parks, and emerging smart cities, Hai Phong exemplifies the adaptability and forward-thinking spirit required in today’s fast-evolving economic landscape,” President Cuong noted.
The conference underscored Hai Phong’s growing appeal to foreign investors, with major projects announced across advanced manufacturing, smart logistics, electronics, and innovation hubs. In total, the city secured investment commitments and cooperation agreements worth over USD 15.6 billion across 32 projects and 7 memoranda of understanding (MoUs).
A Hub for Sustainable Growth and Innovation
The President applauded Hai Phong’s alignment with key priorities of the APEC agenda, including digital trade, green energy, and smart logistics, all of which are central to both Hai Phong and Vietnam’s development strategies.
Hai Phong’s expanding green industrial parks, upgraded connectivity infrastructure, and investor-friendly governance reforms were widely praised by delegates and business representatives.
