Austal's strategic deal with The Philippines port progresses whilst scrapping its China operations

Australian shipbuilder AUSTAL is close to securing a strategic beachhead in the Philippines with the leasing of a port that serves as a maritime gateway to the South China Sea. The Perth-based shipbuilder with operations in Vietnam, The Philippines and USA is at the same time moving to end a joint business venture in China, weeks after it was revealed faulty aluminium from Wuhan had forced delays to one of its Australian defence projects. "As Austal moves into Subic Bay it's not going to be there to promote the agenda of the Australian government, it's only going to be there to promote business and engineering interests and to run the port efficiently” - Austal is expending the business not only in the Philippines but also in Vietnam and achieving more magnificent success.
