Australian International School - Saigon Welcomes Back the AISA Games 2023

Australian International School, Saigon is delighted to announce the highly anticipated return of the AISA Games, set to take place at its campus in the vibrant Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from November 16th to 18th, 2023.

Established in 2012, the Australian International Schools Association (AISA) has been committed to fostering cooperation and interaction among member schools, promoting professional development, facilitating staff recruitment, and advocating the benefits of an Australian education within the Asian/Middle East region. One of the highlights of the AISA calendar is the AISA Games, an event that embodies the spirit of 'Fair play' that is a value shared across the schools.

This year's AISA Games mark a historic moment as they make their comeback after a four-year hiatus caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. With five AISA member schools confirming their participation, this event showcases a collective commitment to nurturing sportsmanship, teamwork, and the invaluable benefits of pursuing an international education.

AIS Saigon, proud host of the 2023 AISA Games, eagerly welcomes participants from across the region, with the largest delegations expected from Singapore, Vietnam, and Hong Kong. Jon Standen, the school's Executive Principal, shares his enthusiasm, stating, "Hosting the AISA Games after a four-year hiatus is a testament to our dedication to creating an environment that not only enhances student engagement but also provides opportunities to explore their diverse interests and passions. The AISA Games promises to deliver an unforgettable experience for all participating students. Competing in basketball, football, swimming, touch rugby, and netball, students will have the unique opportunity to travel to another country to compete against their peers. Delegations from Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore will converge in Ho Chi Minh City for this event.

AIS Saigon's Head of Sports, Matt Washer, underlines the significance of the games, stating, "These games epitomise the qualities we cherish as a school community—camaraderie, continuous development, and, most importantly, having fun."

The AISA Games will kick off with a grand opening ceremony on November 16th, 2023. Although the Games are not open to the public, those interested in experiencing all that AIS Saigon has to offer can attend the school’s Open Day on November 18, 2023. By joining the Open Day, they can have a chance to witness the passion and determination of the Australian International Schools from the region as they compete in the final matches of the exhilarating Games. "Our Open Day gives families and future students the opportunity to experience the excellent facilities and learning programmes that we offer," Standen shares.
