***Why "Endure or Commit" (Cam chịu hay Cam kết)?
HopeBox was established six years ago, and during that time, many women – survivors of gender-based violence – have come to our space to share their stories and seek support. As we listened to their experiences, we realized that the issue of women silently enduring violence is incredibly common. Many do not speak out or seek help due to the stigma from family and community, often being told to “just bear with it,” which traps them in a cycle of violence.
The theme of this campaign, "Endure or Commit" (Cam chịu hay Cam kết), was chosen to spark an important conversation about ending gender-based violence in Vietnam, inviting everyone to make a choice between two paths.
"Endure" (Cam chịu) means accepting injustice, enduring both physical and emotional pain, and living in violence without daring to speak up or seek help. This is a reality that many women face, not only because of the actions of abusers but also due to the pressure from society, family, and those around them, preventing them from resisting or breaking free from their circumstances.
On the other hand, "Commit" (Cam kết) represents the determination to end violence. It is our collective promise – to raise our voices and take action to prevent and eliminate gender-based violence, committing not only for ourselves but for the women around us. We must show solidarity to ensure that every woman has the chance to live in a safe society where she is respected and can pursue personal development.
This campaign calls on not only the survivors' loved ones but also the entire community to commit to action, to build a truly supportive environment where women can feel safe and strong enough to overcome challenges. The message of this campaign is to raise awareness of gender-based violence and encourage individual and collective commitment to create a safer and respectful future for all women.
