Meet the new Adelaide University!
South Australia has always been a state of Firsts. Not only did it become the first place in Australia to grant women the right to vote (fourth in the world), but it also became the first in the world to grant women the right to stand as Members of Parliament.
Given its progressive and pioneering spirit, it’s no surprise that South Australia will soon be home to Australia’s largest university – Adelaide University – placing it among the top 10 largest tertiary institutions in the world. The decision to merge and rebrand two existing universities – The University of Adelaide and The University of South Australia – will catapult the new Adelaide University into an era of growth across diverse sectors, providing the future skills required for the wider South-East Asia region. Accompanying the transformation is a modern, future-driven logo.
To celebrate the announcement and admissions opening for Vietnamese students at the new institution, a delegation visited Vietnam last week, holding gala dinners in both Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. The delegation was led by Professor Jessica Gallagher, Vice-President and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement) at the University of Adelaide, who is also leading Market and Partner Engagement for Adelaide University.
Prof Gallagher said, “Adelaide University’s programs will help address Vietnam’s and the wider Southeast Asia region’s strategic priorities, including equipping students with skills in the digital economy and hi-tech industries, as well as agribusiness, health services and engineering.” Adelaide University plans to deliver Australia’s most accessible, contemporary and future-focused curriculum, drawing on the world-class research and global partnerships of its founding institutions. Its transformative approach includes modular and stackable learning across a flexible academic calendar, a modern digital underpinning that leverages the latest technology, and rich face-to-face learning experiences. Degrees are being developed with industry to ensure graduates are equipped to excel in the workplace.
AusCham was proud to attend the launch of the new super university in HCM City last Wednesday.
