Senior Leaders Retreat in Vietnam
WA Strata Manager delegation visits Vietnam for Smart City Asia Conference
Supporting intra-chamber connections and business, AusCham was proud to facilitate meetings for a delegation of 27 visiting strata managers from Australia. During their mid-April visit, the delegation benefited from educational and cultural exchanges with two of AusCham’s HCM City chapter members – architecture and design firms, studio3eight and dwp | design worldwide partnership.
The Strata Community Association WA chose Vietnam as the location for its ‘Senior Leaders Retreat’ in 2024. Organisers Kerrin Simmonds and Jack Leighton-Jones from the Strata Community Association WA said the retreat is “an opportunity for Senior Leaders from across the Western Australia Strata Management business to connect with peers, share experiences, and explore new leadership paradigms.”
The primary goal of the visit was to attend the Smart City Asia 2024 Conference, held at HCMC’s SECC, 17 – 19 April, 2024. Moreover, after reaching out to AusCham, the delegation was able to explore the sustainable and smart project space in Vietnam via a site visit to dwp’s groundbreaking ‘Cardinal Court’ project and an educational exchange with studio3eight’s founder and architect Matthew Young.
Matthew Young – a Perth native – gave a Western Australian yet local perspective on the Vietnamese construction industry in his presentation to the delegation. He shared his holistic views on design and gave insights on working on projects at every scale in Vietnam, from small storefronts to residential and industrial projects.
Located in the heart of Phu My Hung’s CBD in District 7, Cardinal Court is a first in HCM City, having been certified with EDGE green building certification (International Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) for its high standards and eco-efficiencies. The design of this ‘green oasis’ was pioneered by dwp alongside Phu My Hung Development Co. Ltd, creating a sophisticated and harmonious tropical-inspired experience from the living spaces to communal areas such as pool, gym, yoga room and communal work and meeting space.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by Van Phan Thi Hai, dwp’s Business Development Manager, the project’s chief architect, Mr Quang Linh Vu from ARDOR Green, and Phu My Hung Development’s Specialist coordinator, Mr Long Kim Ho.
As well as the on-site tour, the project’s chief green architect, Quang Linh Vu, gave insights into the development, including the use of solar panels on the roof and solar control glass system. He explained that Cardinal Court – a low-density apartment project at only 15-16 floors – is saving 27% energy, 32% water, 46% less embodied energy in materials. All construction materials, sanitary equipment, electricity and the water system were carefully selected based on high standards and eco-friendliness criteria.
EDGE certificate or green building certification is a resource-efficient building assessment system that enables developers and builders to quickly identify the most cost-effective ways to reduce energy use, water use, and embodied energy in materials, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
