A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior professional with an extensive background in agriculture export promotion, business development and relationship management, together with a detailed understanding of the global business environment (in particular as it relates to South East Asia and Victoria, Australia) to join the Victorian Government Trade & Investment (VGTI) network. This is a new position created in line with the delivery of the Pathways to Export program, a key initiative of the Strong, Innovative, Sustainable: A New Strategy for Agriculture in Victoria launched in 2020. This role is designed to deepen Victoria's relationship with Malaysia, Vietnam and the South East Asian region and drive new trade, export promotion and relationship opportunities for Victorian and South East Asian businesses. Reporting to the Commissioner for Victoria to South East Asia, this position will require an understanding of the export promotion process and the ability to enable Victorian businesses to plan and execute their market development activities.

Successful Candidate

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Considerable experience in trade promotion with proven ability to develop and lead complex programs, organise itineraries, events and participate in trade shows.
  • Demonstrated experience in, and significant understanding of, business support services and project management, including the ability to maximise short, medium- and long-term opportunities.
  • Extensive knowledge of the cultural, economic and political environments which impact on agriculture trade in the SEA region.

The successful candidate for this Locally Engaged Position will be responsible for all arrangements in relation to relocation expenses (if applicable), their accommodation and day-to-day living expenses.
