Vietnam Association of Foreign Investment Enterprises Seminar, HCMC, 27 July 2022

In the context that Vietnam and Australia are gradually promoting and expending the bilateral strategic partnership, especially the two countries have recently announced the Australia - Vietnam Enhanced Economic Engagement Strategy (EEES) on December 21st 2021, work together with the aim of becoming top ten trading partners and doubling two-way investment.

In effort to deploy one of the "Key Initiatives" in the "Action Items" of the "Implementation Plan on page 52 of the EEES which stated: "Vietnam and Australia to support deepening of appropriate trade and investment relationships at the subnational level, such as between the northern Australia and Vietnamese provinces and cities.", on the occasion of the launch ceremony of the Representative Office in Ho Chi Minh City, on April 16th 2022, the Vietnam's Association of Foreign Invested Enterprises (VAFIE) in collaboration with the Northern Territory - Vietnam Business Council (NTVBC) introduced "the Strategy for Trade and Investment Cooperation between Vietnam and Northern Territory" with the participation of nearly 200 delegates from the central and provinces across the country.

Next, on May 30th 2022, VAFIE’s Delegation led by its Chairman – Prof. Nguyen Mai and the Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia – Mr. Nguyen Tat Thanh paid an official visit and worked with the NT Government, aiming to establish fundamental cooperation relationships to concretize the implementation of the Strategy for Trade and Investment Cooperation between Vietnam and Northern Territory.

On the other way, the NT Government has newly issued “the International Engagement Strategy of Northern Territory for 2022-2026”, in which Vietnam is ranked in the top 6 high priority countries for investment cooperation.
