Vietnam skilled meatworker training program has first graduation

A first class skilled meat worker training program has been established in Vietnam to supply skilled Slaughtermen and Boners and Slicers for meat processors in Australia.

The business is a joint venture with shared equity between Katherine Pastoral Company of Australia owned by Neil Barrie and Mr T Beef www.mrtbeef.vn a subsidiary of a large Vietnamese Industrial conglomerate, Quang Phat Group under the stewardship of Binh Dang.

Their fully operational abattoir is located in Long An, South Vietnam and currently kills a mixture of Australian, Thai and domestic beef for Vietnamese consumption. Additionally the company has interests in Livestock importation to Vietnam, property development as well as Pork and other food processing.

The purpose built boning room is equivalent in standard to any domestic boning and portion control room in Australia and is located adjacent to the a fully operational slaughter facility processing Beef and Pork for local consumption.

The training facility is managed full time by an onsite Australian manager who is also a MINTRAC assessor. Adrian Prior has 30 years QA and production experience in Australia and has produced a large number of training videos for AMPC.

Candidates have been currently working in the Meat processing business for the past 2 years and are selected for training based on physical, language and cultural orientation qualities.

The intensive course is modelled on Australian Cert 1, Cert 11 and Cert 111 Australian training modules involving both theory and practical skills tuition.

The course recently celebrated their first round of graduates who were all offered employment by EC Throsby in Singleton and Young NSW. Donna Fuller, Group Operations Manager travelled to Vietnam to interview and assess all candidates.

Ms Rebecca Ball, Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner Vietnam and Cambodia also attended the graduation.
