Sustainable Urban and Commercial Development in Vietnam: Challenges and Opportunities

Anh

Vietnam has undergone rapid urbanization and economic transformation over the past three decades. Its shift from an agrarian economy to a more industrialized and service-oriented model has led to significant urban expansion and commercial development. However, this growth comes with environmental and social challenges. Sustainable urban and commercial development has become a key focus for Vietnam, balancing economic growth with environmental protection and social equity.

This paper follows the Real Estate Symposium: “Sustainable Urban and Commercial Development”, hosted by AusCham in October 2024, where the experts explore the current context of urbanization and commercial development in Vietnam, highlight government policies aimed at fostering sustainability, and examine the challenges and opportunities the country faces in this area.
