Matthew McKelvie
Business and Trade Analyst Intern
Matt is an enthusiastic and globally-minded individual, having lived in six different countries across three continents before the age of 21. His return to Vietnam holds significant sentimentality for him and his family as he spent eight years in Ho Chi Minh City attending the British International School. He considers HCMC a second home and is eager to contribute positively to Vietnam as a whole.
Well-regarded amongst his peers for his curiosity and strong cross-cultural communication skills, Matt brings fresh perspectives on international affairs and a deep understanding of cultural nuances to AusCham.
At the chamber, he is eager to gain valuable insights into Australia's investment and business connections in the region. To support his honours thesis research, Matt aims to gain insight into how Vietnamese businesses and organisations can leverage their unique capabilities to become key partners for their Australian counterparts.
As a Dalyell Scholar at the University of Sydney, Matt is pursuing a double major in Political Economy and International Business. His educational journey has taken him to British International Schools in Kuwait City, Shanghai, Taipei, and HCMC, as well as the Rotterdam School of Management as an exchange student. His studies at the University of Sydney have equipped him to engage in debates on development theory, international trade, and policy trends which he intends to sharpen with the help of the AusCham community.
